Birds originally descended from reptiles and it is belived that Archaeopteryx is the earliest known bird that lived approximately 147 million years ago. This bird species seem to be very different from today’s birds and has a long bony tail with teeth. There are certain species of birds that can talk and copy human voices.   • It can grow upto 33 cm (13.2 inches) and the avarage wieght of the bird species is 400 g (14 oz.)
  • The primary diest of the bird species includes fruit, seeds, buds, nectar, and pollen and they have also seen eating insects or other meat occasionally.
  • The incubation period of the bird species is 28 days and sexual maturity will be attained after 4 to 7 years.

2.Budgerigar

  • Budgerigar scientifically is known as Melopsittacus undulatus.
  • This type of parrot species are very popular pets in the UK with an avarage lifespan of 5 to 8 years in captivity.
  • It is known for its small, long-tailed, seed-eating parrot also known as the budgie and in American English it is known as parakeet.
  • The origin of the bird species is unclear, however, it was first recorded in 1805 and now they are popular pets across the world because of their small size, low cost, and ability to mimic human speech.
  • The budgerigar is closely related to lories and the fig parrots.

3.Yellow Naped Amazon

  • Yellow Naped Amazon is also known as a yellow-naped parrot is an amazon parrot considered as a subspecies of the yellow-crowned amazon.
  • The bird species inhabit the Pacific Slope of Mesoamerica and listed as the endangered species by the IUCN Redlist. The primary reason for the population decline is Deforestation and illegal removal of young for the pet trade (poaching).

4.Eclectus Parrot

  • Eclectus Parrot is one of the smartest talking birds native to the Solomon Islands, Sumba, New Guinea and even nearby islands.
  • It is herbivores and the primary diest of the bird species includes fruits, seeds, nuts, berries, leaf buds, blossoms and nectar. The favourite food of Eclectus parrots is Pandanus.
  • It prefers to thrive in the rainforest’s canopy, tree clumps in savannahs and eucalypt woodlands.

  • Monk Parakeet was mostly seen in the subtropical parts of Argentina and surrounding countries in South America.
  • The bird species has been introduced in the United States in America in the late 1960s as a pet and the first one has been recorded in New York in 1967.
  • It is the only parrot that builds a stick nest rather than using a hole in a tree. It prefers nesting in a tree or on a man-made structure.

  • It prefers to thrive in either on hills between 300 and 2000 m. high or at sea level.
  • It can grow upto 27-30 cm in length and comes up with a black appearance with feathers that vary in an undertone.

  • Cockatoo is also one of the popular bird species known for its fan of feathers that can be seen at the top of the head.
  • It is scientifically known as Cacatuidae and can grow upto 24 inches in length.
  • The avarage lifespan of the bird species varies between 25 to 60 years of age.
  • As of now, 21 species of cockatoos are known to humans and native to Oceania.It is endemic to Australasia, including Australia, New Zealand, and New Guinea. It is also seen in Indonesia and the Solomon Islands.

  • Yellow Crowned Amazon is native to Panama and tropical South America.
  • The plumage of the bird is mostly green and it has rainbow markings over its body as well.
  • It can grow upto 33 to 38 cm in length with a total wingspan of 20 to 21.6 cm. The avarage wieght of the species is 405-561 gms.
  • The avarage lifespan of the bird species is 60 to 80 years.
  • It can be easily identified with some red or orange feathers and a white ring around its eye and an orange iris.

10.Blue Fronted Amazon

  • Blue Fronted Amazon is commonly known as Blue-fronted Amazon parrot and turquoise-fronted Amazon parrot.
  • It is scientifically known as Amazona aestiva and can grow upto 15 to 17 inches long with an avarage wieght of 14 to 15 ounces.
  • The avarage lifespan is between 80 or 100 years, however, it is most commonly will live 40 or so years.
  • It is known for its brilliant colourings and each of them has distinct feather patterns to go along with its extroverted personality.
