Sure, factors such as population, economic opportunities available, living expenses incurred count, but to live in a city till you’re old and wrinkly with a head of grey hair also requires the environment of your chosen home to have suitable weather. The country of Spain, on the whole, is known for its pleasant climate conditions, but in terms of great weather, all year round the city of Las Palmas takes the cake. The city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is located on the north-eastern coast of Gran Canaria island, which is a part of the Canary Islands. According to Climatology researcher Thomas Whitmore of Syracuse University, this city enjoys “the most pleasant weather in the world” with warm dry summers and moderately warm winters.

Las Palmas enjoys a subtropical desert climate with an average annual temperature is 20 °C to 23 °C during the day and about 17 °C at night. The city largely sees sunshine throughout the year and mushy rainy days are rare. Large fluctuations in temperature are almost never seen.

2. Sao Paolo, Brazil

One of the many reasons why Sao Paolo is the most populated Brazilian city is because of its favourable weather. It is located near the south-eastern coast of the country. The city is surrounded by low mountains to the west. Sao Paolo enjoys a subtropical climate with an average temperature ranging from 22°C to 28 °C throughout the year. The months June to August are dry and cool, and from November to March, the city receives rainfall.

3. San Diego, USA

The city of San Diego lies on the Pacific Coast in the American state of California. It attracts a large number of tourists due to its famous beaches, zoos, parks and idyllic climate. On average, the city gets about 266 days full of sunshine in a year, which is more than the national average which stands at 205 days of sun annually. The average temperature here is quite pleasant, ranging from 14°C to 22 °C throughout the year. Thus, San Diego’s beaches remain hospitable throughout the year with its pleasantly warm waters. On Thomas Whitmore’s list of places with the most pleasant weather in the world, this city ranks third highest with a score of 95 (the city of Las Palmas scoring a full 100).

4. Mombasa, Kenya

Mombasa is the most popular tourist destination in Kenya and is the oldest and second-largest city in the country. It is situated on a coralline island in the Indian ocean. Due to its proximity to the equator, the city enjoys a moderate temperature within the range of 20°C to 30°C throughout the year, with the occasional cloudy day and some rainfall.

5. Oahu, Hawaii, USA

Oahu island houses Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii. Both Oahu city and Honolulu are located on the Oahu island and in proximity to each other. It is believed that more than half the tourists visiting Hawaii, choose to explore the Oahu islands. Apart from its bustling environment and beautiful sights, the pleasant temperature is an added bonus for visiting tourists. With an average temperature ranging from 25°C to 30°C and an almost dry, sunny disposition, this city has some of the best beaches in the world.

6. Sydney, Australia

Known for its booming infrastructure, rich culture and heritage buildings, Sydney is next on the list of the ten cities with the best weather in the world. Sydney is flanked by mountains on its west and the sea on its east. On average, the city enjoys around 236 days of sunshine in a year. With temperature’s mostly in the range of 20°C to 30°C, the city is blessed with pleasant weather all year round- a warm summer, cool winter and average precipitation in the form of rainfall (snowfall is very rare).

7. Kunming, China

The City of Kunming is also attributed with the alternate title “the spring city” due to its ideal weather conditions. Located in the Yunan province of China, the city boasts of its natural beauty and heritage temples and monasteries. Kunming has a temperate climate with an average temperature of 20°C. Summers are mildly warm and humid, and winters are cool and dry.

8. Loja, Ecuador

Located near the equator in south Ecuador, Loja is known as the cultural capital of Ecuador. It enjoys a tropical savanna climate and is said to have the best spring-like weather throughout the year. The temperature remains within the pleasant range of 26 °C to 30°C, with minimal fluctuation.

Nice is a breath-taking city in the French Riviera, on the south-eastern coast of France on the Mediterranean Sea. The city enjoys “nice” weather throughout the year with temperatures ranging between 20°C to 27°C. The mild Mediterranean climate of this city spells out hot and sunny days with moderate rainfall.

10. Medellin, Colombia

Deemed “La Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera” (City of Eternal Spring) due to its pleasant and warm weather throughout the year, Medellin is the second-largest city in Colombia. Known for the abundance of flora and fauna, and lively markets, this city has minimal variation in temperature and comfortable humidity levels. It has a tropical rainforest climate. Temperatures usually remain within the range of 18°C to 28°C.
